Q: What is SaaS?

A: SaaS is an acronym for “Software-as-a-Service”. A SaaS product is hosted on the Internet for a subscriber to use for a fee. The subscriber can access a SaaS product from any location and from any device that has an internet connection. As part of the SaaS service, the users’ data is stored on an internet server by the SaaS provider. This is known as “the cloud”. The data is regularly backed up and stored securely. SaaS is ideal for a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). ManagerPlus refers to its SaaS application as ManagerPlus Cloud.

Q: What are the benefits of ManagerPlus Cloud?

A: Compared with a CMMS that is hosted on a locally maintained server, SaaS is ideally suited for Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) for several reasons, including:

No dedicated infrastructure – The only devices needed are those that will connect to the CMMS via the internet. No servers or backup equipment are required, nor is any dedicated software required to be installed on any device. This decreases your equipment and IT personnel costs.

Immediate startup – Without the need for dedicated infrastructure (or knowledge about the infrastructure) you can begin the process of implementing your CMMS immediately without the hassle of setting up servers.

Rapid scalability – As your company changes size, you can rapidly expand your software use, without acquiring any additional dedicated hardware.

Q: Is my data secure?

A: No matter what happens to your computers at work, your data is always secure and available. ManagerPlus uses the most current security standards to protect your data from hacker attacks, file corruption, viruses, and data loss. Your data is also backed up nightly.

Q: How often is ManagerPlus Cloud updated?

A: ManagerPlus is updated regularly with limited user interruption. This means you will always have the most current version of ManagerPlus Cloud.

Q: Can other SaaS applications connect to ManagerPlus Cloud?

A: Yes, ManagerPlus Cloud has already created ManagerPlus | Connectors that communicate with other business applications including: GPS, accounting/finance, and documentation management. In addition, ManagerPlus Cloud also has an open API which allows connectivity to additional SaaS applications.

Q: Who is the hosting company for ManagerPlus Cloud?

A: ManagerPlus Cloud is currently hosted by Rackspace with redundancy backups at multiple locations.

Security and Data Recovery

Q: How often is my data backed up and does it create user downtime?

A: With no downtime, your data is backed up nightly. This ensures that your data is always safe and secure.

Q: What safety measures are in place to ensure that my data is safe from hackers, viruses, and other security breaches?

A: ManagerPlus Cloud is hosted through Rackspace. Their dedicated security division provides a full complement of state-of-the-art security services. The ISO 27001 – recommended Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology forms the backbone of their security policy. For more details on the security services Rackspace provides www.rackspace.com/security

Q: Has ManagerPlus ever had a security breach?

A: No, due to ManagerPlus high security standards we have not incurred any security breaches and all web traffic is sent and received over HTTPS protocol.

Q: What systems are in place to protect my hosted data in the event of a fire, natural disaster, power outage, and other hazards?

A: ManagePlus uses Rackspace networks and facilities which are equipped with cutting edge emergency response technologies and systems, including: an N+1 redundant HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) system (duplicate system that immediately activates in the event of failure in the primary HVAC system), full air circulation and filtration at 90 second intervals, and advanced fire suppression systems. All core routing equipment is fully redundant and built using only enterprise-class equipment. Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is used for all servers, along with an N+1 redundant UPS power subsystem that is set to activate instantly in the event of a failure in the primary UPS. In the event of an extended power outage, diesel generators can run indefinitely to keep services operational. 

Q: Is my data secure from physical break-ins and other on-site security?

A: Through Rackspace, ManagerPlus maintains highly secure data facilities. Some on-site security features include: keycard protocols, biometric scanning protocols, around-the-clock interior and exterior surveillance, and access control that is limited to authorized data center personnel. Only individuals who have received security clearance and are accompanied by a Rackspace escort has access to sensitive areas. Every data center employee is subjected to extensive background vetting before hire.

Q: Are there security features within the ManagerPlus Cloud application?

A: Yes, ManagerPlus offers a range of security features, including secure logins and the ability to define access levels for different employees. All passwords used to login to ManagerPlus are salted and hashed and are not stored in clear text, which helps prevent unauthorized access. All traffic (not just the login page) to and from the web servers are 100% encrypted and served via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which is a cryptographic protocol for securely sending communications over the Internet

Q: Does ManagerPlus use SSO (Single Sign On) authentication?

A: SSO is not available in the current ManagerPlus application, it is planned for a future release.

Q: Does ManagerPlus provide a user audit trail?

A: Yes, audit trails are available inside the software application.

Q: What happens when a new ManagerPlus customer is added?

A: ManagerPlus uses an automated process to provision new customers with their unique subdomain.

Q: Is it possible to retrieve my backup data and is it secure?

A: ManagerPlus can provide backup data upon request. Data is transferred securely through SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to Box.com for retrieval.

Software Updates

Q: How often is ManagerPlus Cloud updated?

A: ManagerPlus Cloud is generally updated weekly. There are usually no service outages during updates; however, if a service outage is necessary customers will be notified in advance through the application. Release Notes for each update are available in the ManagerPlus Learning Center at https://learningcenter.managerplus.com/.

Infrastructure and Reliability

Q: How does ManagerPlus know when the server is over utilized and what precautions are taken to solve the problem?

A: ManagerPlus monitors network performance usage 24/7 with multiple performance applications. In the event that a network becomes over utilized ManagerPlus can increase server usage to meet the demand.

Q: Is ManagerPlus compliant with international certifications and standards?

A: Yes, ManagerPlus is hosted by Rackspace and they are certified in the following major standards: ISO 27002, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), SSAE16, SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, Safe Harbor, Content Protection and Security Standard (CPS).

Q: Does ManagerPlus share its resources with anyone at Rackspace?

A: No, the servers that run ManagerPlus are not shared with any additional customers or tenants of Rackspace.

Q: Is my data separate from other customers’ data?

A: Yes, ManagerPlus creates a completely separate database for each customer to ensure the highest level of security and data integrity.

Q: Is it possible to provide a dedicated host server for one customer?

A: No, ManagerPlus does not offer a dedicated server/ hardware for one client
